Dr Philip
Drake is Lecturer in Film & Media at University of Stirling.
His publications include numerous articles on stardom and
celebrity. These include recent chapters in Andrew Willis
(ed.) (2004) Film Stars: Hollywood and Beyond, Manchester
University Press, and Frank Krutnik (ed.) (2003) Hollywood
Comedians: The Film Reader, Routledge, as well as forthcoming
articles in Susan Drucker and Gary Gumpert (eds.) Heroes
in a Global World, Hampton Press, Susan Homes and Sean Redmond
(eds.) Celebrity Culture, London: Routledge, and Susan Homes
and Sean Redmond (eds.) Fame Culture, London: Sage. He is
currently finishing a book on the political economy of stardom
in contemporary Hollywood cinema. He has also written on
and researched in the areas of media economics, cultural
policy and city development.

Dr
Andy Miah, Conference Co-Chair[link]
Andy
Miah is Lecturer in Media, Bioethics, and Cyberculture at
University of Paisley. His research is informed by an interest
in applied ethics, technology, and culture and he has published
broadly in the areas of cyberculture, sport, and bioethics.
Recent publications include the Journal of Medical Ethics,
CTHEORY, Culture Machine and Research in Philosophy, Technology.
He has also written for newspapers, including The Observer,
and the Times Higher Education Supplement. He has refereed
book proposals for Routledge and journal articles for Theory,
Culture and Society, Cultural Politics, IRB, Genomics, Society
& Policy, and Research in Philosophy and Technology.
His major publications are books titled Sport Technology
(2002, Elsevier) and Genetically
Modified Athletes (2004, Routledge). He is currently
working on a co-authored book called The
Medicalisation of Cyberspace (Routledge). In 2006, he
begins work on a co-authored book called 'CyberSport: Digital
Games, Ethics & Cultures' (The MIT Press). He is frequently
invited to give lectures related to his work and most recently
presented at Harvard Law School and the Royal Institution
of Great Britain.
